This documentary was filmed, edited, and produced solely by Logan Bonjean. Logan travelled to Sandpoint, ID (the home of his grandfather and grandmother) early in the spring of 2020 to capture interviews. Andy proceeded to break down his entire life story on camera, providing rich cultural and family history, culminating in the reunion with his long-lost father at the end of his life. Other interviews included Julie Porietis, Andy’s wife & Logan’s grandmother, as well as Shelley Bonjean, the mother of Logan and daughter of Andy. The documentary displays the deeply intertwined ties of the family, how each individual’s perspective shapes a part of the story, and the desire to reach greater depths of meaning in family history & relationship. “Andris” provides a story mixed and filled with heartbreak, optimism, gratefulness, love, hope, and reconciliation. It’s for that reason that this documentary is not only for the immediate family of Andy Porietis, but for anyone who resonates with those life experiences.
